Guest Haunt for the Midwest Haunters
Conventions lights off tour on Friday, July
13th, 2007
On Friday the 13th over 400 haunt owners, actors as well other
professionals in the Haunted Attraction Industry converged at the
Gates of Terror
It is not often that you are able to hear what others in your industry think of
your attraction and we would like to share their reviews with you. So below
are some of the emails we received following the conventions tour.
We have omitted some details which may give away to much information.
We wouldn't want to ruin the fun...would we.
Hello,
My name is Cari Ritchie I run a haunt here in Illinois and I was
lucky enough to get to attend your haunt this Friday.  Wonderful
job!!!!

Cari Ritchie
Hello,
We wanted to thank you for the fun and the enjoyable night last Friday
at your haunt. My husband and I talked with you about how much fun
we had but I thought I'd write to you about it as well.
My husband hit an all-time record of getting scared 4 times in one
haunt,
We had so much fun! Thanks again!

What an awesome haunt!!

Hello!
My name is John Jesensky.  I'm from a haunt in CT called The Terror Tour. I was lucky enough to
be able to visit your haunt on Friday night. Let me tell you, honestly, I was nervous when I heard
that the haunt we'd be visiting had only been open for a few years.  I actually felt sort of let
down!  If I was going to be paying money for the convention, I wanted to visit the best!
However, and this is a HUGE however, you guys absolutely blew my socks off!  First of all
your pre-show entertainment was great!  Not enough haunts entertain the audience before they
even set foot in the main attraction, and I love what you guys do!
Your actual haunt was amazing!  My favorite room in the main haunt was definitely

thinking "No way would they be able to do that...that is too hard.   Wow!  I was
thrilled that you actually pulled it off!  Other than that, my second favorite "room" was where
you had all of the
(DETAILS OMITTED) I very rarely feel my heart pounding at haunts anymore
(it's sad, but I've been a little numbed...enjoying the artistic rather than the scary now).
However, I actually became a nervous wreck.  I kept thinking "Shit, I'm going to scream and feel
like an idiot."  It took awhile for me to get my heart rate back down!
I apologize for not offering better criticism.  I'm sure you've had many an email gushing, when
you really want to get some ideas too. Again, I apologize for not offering that...but please take
my words to heart.  You have something special at your location.  Keep up the amazing work.
You are definitely one of THE haunts to remember.
Thank you so much!

Greetings,

My wife and I visited your haunt during this year's Midwest Haunter's Convention and were very
impressed.  We used to live in Los Angeles and became accustomed to the very professional
haunts there, including our favorite, Knott's Scary Farm as well as Universal Studios and "local"
style haunts that were produced with the help of current and/or former Disney employees. I am
afraid to admit it, but when we arrived at your attraction we wondered if it would be any good in
comparison.  I guess that means we're haunt snobs.  I want to let you know that your  haunt was
as good as anything we experienced in Los Angeles and both my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed
our evening at your haunt.  I also heard you mention that your employees were nervous, due to
the fact of who the crowd was.  Please let them know they did an excellent job!  Both I and my
wife let out several screams as we toured the haunt (I think I screamed a bit more then she did
though :-) ).  We were very entertained and that is what a good haunt is all about.
We have been haunt fans for many years and have plans to enter the Haunt Industry for the
2008 season.  This is why we attended the Midwest Haunters Convention.  Visiting your haunt
was very inspiring to me and my goal of operating my own haunt. Thanks very much for opening
for the convention-goers to see it.

And last but certainly not least, from the Midwest Haunters Convention

You were a huge asset to our convention this year.  We’ve heard nothing but positive
comments about your attraction.  I personally enjoyed my visit and was very impressed with
the quality of your actors.  The stage show is a terrific idea.  The use of

My favorite scene was the

it.  I hope you don’t mind me borrowing your idea.
Your hospitality went above our expectations.  The food was great and the beverages were
greatly appreciated.  You set the bar “Very High” and will make it difficult to match or surpass
our Friday night experience at the Gates of Terror.
Have a terrific season.
